Our Story
Work with SapyA reflection of continuous investment. From its humble beginnings, SAPY has grown into a reputable market leader, driven by a commitment to quality, innovation and community.
The first SACAA registered Helipad in Hammarsdale area and launch of SAPY_X Customer Experience from our newly built Aviation Visitor Lounge.
Certification against ISO 22000:2018 for Food Safety Management Systems marks a significant milestone in SAPY’s extensive recapitalization and expansion of the Colour Department, underscoring the continuous nature of SAPY’s growth. This certification also provides our customers with additional confidence in our processes and products, reinforcing our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality.
Installation of a pilot hybrid renewal energy system consisting of a solar panel bank rotating on a bi-directional axis with sun tracking technology – a first in South Africa – and a wind turbine, all for data capture and analysis.
Designed to showcase the scope of our technological abilities and honour our traditional heritage in colour and textile, our first Visitor Centre opens its doors to our Customers.
SAPY’s system is certified against ISO 9001:2008 (since updated to ISO 9001:2015) – a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence. This achievement reflects our dedication to maintaining the highest standards in every aspect of our operations, ensuring that our products and services consistently meet customer expectations.
Installation and commission of additional FDY (Fully Drawn Yarn) spinning equipment and SAPY’s first POY Spinning Machines to meet customer demand and ensure future capacity.
Considerable investment is injected into plant and equipment, with the building of a new multifilament PP yarn manufacturing factory, inspection and packing factory, warehousing, and new administration offices.
Following a number of years of relentless drive and persistence, the demand for SAPY’s yarn and masterbatch outgrew its capacity, and new, larger premises are purchased.
Despite being a small start-up of yarn spinning and texturizing operations, SAPY’s has the distinct privilege of having Prince Michael of Kent formally officiate our opening in October.
